We weren’t quite sure where to begin.
If you’re into cycling and have spent any time on this platform, chances are you’ve already seen his work. He’s the reason this page looks the way it does.
@kaynaraleica is a rare breed. A second-generation photographer who also happens to be an avid cyclist. While most of us struggle to take our hands off the handlebars, Kay somehow manages to create magic with a camera in his hands, even while riding.
He doesn’t just photograph bicycles. He captures everything around them: the conversations before the ride, the silence after, the exhaustion, the laughter, and of course, the scene. Light, momentum, composition, instinct, it all comes together in a way that feels effortless. If you’ve ever been tagged in one of his photos, there’s a good chance your first thought was, “How the hell did that happen?"
That’s the thing about Kay. He notices moments the rest of us don’t even realize happened until they’re frozen in a frame. Ironically, putting this post together turned out to be harder than expected. We barely have any photos of him. He’s shy. He’s always more comfortable behind the camera than in front of the lense, and convincing him otherwise is almost impossible.
The funny thing is, his photographs have become unmistakable. Before you know who took the shot, you somehow already know it’s his. That’s when a photographer becomes more than someone with a signature style.
Kay isn’t just a photographer. He’s a genre.
And yes, that “Leica” really is written in his National ID.
