If you happen to see him on the street, say hello:
Jimi Multhazam.
We’re not entirely sure he needs an introduction.
Jimi has worn so many hats and inhabited so many personas that putting a label on him feels like a bit of a waste of time. Across art activities and everything in between, he’s become something of an institution at the intersection of art activism and Jakarta’s urban subculture.
But to us, he’s simply a man who loves bicycles.
A man who takes his cycling religiously.
And, more importantly, consistently.

Like many of us, little Jimi started out riding a bicycle for the most ordinary reason: getting to school and going about his day. Then life happened. Years later, fatherhood brought him back to cycling when his kid asked him to accompany him on the ride to school. There was just one problem: Jimi the Dad couldn’t keep up.
And just like that, the old flame was back. Along came a renewed love for cycling and all things vintage. Countless pedal strokes later, Jimi was head over heels all over again. Turns out, some old flames are worth chasing.

So, when Agra 3.0 found its way back onto our production schedule and we started thinking about who should take it back to the streets, Jimi’s name came up pretty quickly.
Why him? Why not. Some people bring more than just their riding to the table. Jimi has a character of his own, built over decades of making things, breaking things, and finding new ways to express himself. His name carries a certain weight, almost like an institution in its own right. And that’s precisely the kind of character we wanted around Agra.

Besides, if you’ve been following his work, you’ll know the man doesn’t seem to run out of energy. There’s always something happening, something brewing, or something new coming out of his corner. We could certainly use some of that energy ourselves.
And we’re glad he appreciate that Brushed Steel as much as we do. Some things just make sense. This is one of them.
Thanks for taking that Brushed Steel out to the streets, Jim. We’re just as religious about Konservatif, Matraman, and Ada Petrus Semalam. Amen to that.
